Because of this we offer the very best qualification at the most affordable price helping to support learners from all walks of life giving them the opportunity to study and start something new and exciting they love.  We receive a wide range of ages studying the Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym course from 16 – 65+. From learners studying part time whilst at college, full time parents and learners looking for a career change or just perusing a hobby. There is a huge amount of opportunity for younger and mature instructors in the industry at the moment and this is set to increase with more and more people taking up exercise to compliment a healthy lifestyle.

 

Whilst we have no formal entry requirements other than being at least 16+ we do recommend learners have a keen and active interest in the Sports/Fitness Industry and a good level of Fitness to participate in physical activity required to pass your practical training.

YMCA Level 2 Fitness Instructor

We have chosen to deliver the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym course online via an interactive online portal so we can accommodate all learners. The online portal is designed and issued to us by the Awarding Body YMCA Awards. The portal and resources are accessible 24/7 through most electronic devices. You have access to the portal for 300 days (approx. 10 months) whether or not it takes this amount of time is up to you. You can go back and revisit any section on the portal as many or little times as needed. Learners are assigned their own personal username and password to access the portal. The online portal is broken in to two main sections, ‘Level 2 Gym Instructor’ which covers;

  • Introduction to Body Weight Exercises
  • Introduction to Cardiovascular Machines
  • Introduction to Free Weights
  • Introduction to Resistance Machines
  • Session Structure, Warm Up and Cool Down
  • Collecting Information and Planning, Instructing, Reflecting
  • Cardiovascular and Resistance Training Guidelines
  • Modifications, Alternatives and Progressions
  • Games

 

The ‘Level 2 Mandatory Units’ which covers;

  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
  • Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health
  • Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise, Fitness and Health
  • Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment
  • Special Populations

 

During your time on the portal you will need to complete two workbooks, Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment and Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise, Fitness and Health. The Health and Safety workbook in broken down in to parts A&B, each workbook is no more than approx. 10 questions will show your result as soon as you have completed them. You can attempt the workbooks at any time and as many times as needed.

The online learning is taught in various different styles including, videos, and audio on/off, reading, pictures, speaker, games, quizzes and labelling. As well as having access to the portal every learner is assigned their own personal online tutor who they can contact if they have any questions and to guide them through the course.
