Message from YMCA Awards

Post from YMCA Awards Director Rob May

Dear loyal customer,

YMCA Awards is a non-profit organisation, we don’t have shareholders, which means all of the revenues we have created this year will go back into developing educational content and life-changing learning experiences.

So far, nearly 500,000 fitness industry professionals have started or progressed their career with YMCA Awards qualifications.

It’s been a positive year for YMCA Awards. I am particularly proud of my very talented team winning the FAB Innovation of the year award for an unprecedented second year in a row, as well as being shortlisted for other industry accolades, adding new products to our offer and expanding the customers we work with both in the UK and overseas.

So what’s new for 2017?

In January, our senior management team will be joined by two new members of staff:

Dr Fiona Summers takes up the new role of Head of Quality and Compliance. Fiona successfully led the quality assurance department at another awarding organisation, Ascentis, and her appointment demonstrates our focus on preserving and increasing our market-leading quality assurance services.

Also joining the team will be Simon Titley from Pearson, the world’s largest education company. Simon brings with him a great deal of experience in designing creative customer experience initiatives, and supporting learners and centres in high-stakes, high-volume awarding.

New Level 3 Personal Training Qualification

We’ve been working with CIMSPA, customers and stakeholders on updating the Level 3 Personal Training qualification. Customers we talked to were determined that the new qualification should contain a sufficient level of detail, depth and content. I’m delighted that CIMSPA have agreed to include the far more substantive requirements, requested by sector practitioners and training providers, in their soon to be released Professional Standards.

I am now far more confident that the new YMCA Awards Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification will meet the needs of the sector, and we will continue to consult with customers on this exciting update in the New year.

We will also be bringing you NEW eLearning to support the Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification, an important development as the overlap between the fitness sector and the primary healthcare system increases. We’ll also continue to allow more centres to access a wider range of digital teaching and learning options.

Look out for the launch of our NEW website in 2017, full of easy-to-use resources, tools and information to support your day-to-day operations.

Market leading approach to Quality

We know that our customers choose YMCA Awards specifically because you value quality in your delivery and assessment and want your internal quality assurance systems to run smoothly and effectively.

As you can see, 2017 promises to be an exciting new year, until then, all that remains is for me to thank you once again for your valued custom and to wish you and your families all the joy and happiness that the season brings.

Please note: YMCA Awards’ offices will be closed from 26/12/16 – 03/01/17.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Rob May
Director of YMCA Awards
